Number Cakes have been trending throughout the industry for the last few years and have become very popular in recent years. They are great for birthday’s, anniversary’s as well as graduations.
In this blog, we will discuss how to make a number
For this order, I baked the cake in two 10 X 10- inch square pans, if you want your number 4 to be larger I suggest using a quarter sheet pan which is 9×13 inch or half sheet 13 X 18 inch. Since the client didn’t want a big cake. The 10X10 square pan was the perfect size.
If you need a cake or frosting recipe, please use our chocolate or vanilla cake recipe. If you are short for time you can also use a box cake.
As you guys, already know I am a bake from scratch kind of lady, I used my vanilla cake recipe for this project. You will need two batches of the vanilla cake recipe for each pan.
Bake the cake as instructed, remove from the cake pan and be sure to chill the cake in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours or in the freezer for a 1 hour before cutting. This will make it easier for you to cut the cake with less crumbs.
Since I am layering my cake for added height, I first filled the middle with buttercream and lightly crumb coated the cake before cutting.
Using a serrated knife, cut the cake into three even strips

Leave the center strip whole and cut the two remaining strips into segments

Assemble the cake pieces on the board to form the number 4.

The remaining pieces you can use to make cake pops or give your family. I know mines loves to eat the scraps.

We hope you find these instructions to be easy and useful, this was a very simple cake to cut out and can be done for any number.
